12 Jul How to Balance Chakras with Stones
If you’ve been feeling emotionally “stuck” or physically not your best and you aren’t sure why, it may be possible that your energetic system is out of balance.
In our Beginner’s Guide to Chakras, we discussed the seven main chakras (energetic areas) in the body. For a variety of reasons, chakras can sometimes become blocked or overactive and cause us to physically, emotionally, and mentally feel “off”.
One way to address this problem is by using healing stones and crystals. No need to worry if you have never tried this before — we’ve put together a few simple steps to show you how to balance your chakras with stones:
1. Choose a stone that corresponds with the chakra you want to heal.
Just as there are unique energy hot spots in the body, certain stones and crystals have unique purposes in the healing process.
Our bodies are liquid crystals. All living organisms are mostly liquid, but unlike pure liquids, we have a crystalline structure at the molecular level. This is part of what makes us so dynamic and responsive to our environment.
Every part of our bodies, from the tiniest cell to the largest organ systems, are constantly in contact and communication with one another. It seems crystalline structures are essential for consciousness. Stones reflect the crystalline nature of our bodies and our crystalline structure can be influenced by that of stones.
When choosing a stone, our favorite approach is to visit a rock shop and see which stone or stones call to you. Once you’ve selected the ones your intuition draws you to, look them up – you’d be surprised to see that they’re always exactly what you need!
2. Cleanse and recharge the stone.
Although this step can depend on the stone you’re working with, a good rule of thumb is to run them under water to cleanse them energetically and recharge the stone under the light of the full moon once a month. Leave them on your windowsill so the moonlight can get to them. You might also try charging them with sunlight, too. Trust your intuition.
The easiest thing to do in terms of where to place your stones is to keep them either in your workspace, home area, or next to your bed. You can also keep them in your pocket and touch them periodically throughout the day so you’re in constant contact with it until you start to feel better.
Meditating with stones is another great option. Simply hold the stone in your hands as you meditate. It helps you to stay focused and out of your head as you absorb the healing qualities of your stone.
Here are some stones commonly used to heal different chakras:
Crown: amethyst, sugilite, clear quartz (or any purple or clear stone)
Third Eye: lapis lazuli, sodalite, sapphire, moonstone (or any indigo stone)
Throat: aquamarine, turquoise, blue topaz (or any blue stone)
Heart: rose quartz, pink tourmaline, varicosite (or any pink or green stone)
Solar Plexus: tiger eye, citrine, yellow tourmaline (or any yellow stone)
Sacral: carnelian, orange beryl, orange jasper (or any orange stone)
Root: hematite, blood jasper, black tourmaline (or any red or black stone)
To do a simple body layout, just place the stones on or near each chakra point. You can do a guided meditation as you lay there or simply allow yourself to focus on the sensations you feel as you absorb the color and energy of the stones.
Start with five to ten minutes, just as you would with meditation. But always follow your intuition — if you need more time, take it. If you feel that you’re done, then stop. You’ll get a strong sensation of just being done and needing to get them off you if your body has had enough.
