In our previous blog post “The Importance of Practicing Gratitude,” we talked about living your life in a way that helps you to avoid taking everything for granted.
We’re all guilty of spending so much time thinking about, planning for and dreaming of the future or things we wish we could change that we forget to be thankful for what we already have.
When we consciously practice gratitude, we open ourselves up to more waves of positive energy and we become more aware of the good in our lives.
But being grateful isn’t the only thing we tend to forget about: loving ourselves — deeply and authentically — is something many of us struggle with. Self-love is a huge issue for women in particular, when we live in a world that constantly suggests that we compare ourselves to others around us and tells us that we’re never “good enough.”
By combining the practice of daily gratitude for our lives with genuine self-love, we begin to see ourselves in a new light.

The words we choose about ourselves impacts the way we see ourselves, express ourselves, and even how others perceive us to be. And it’s not all about our external voice either: that inside voice influences our thoughts and feelings . . . sometimes far more often than we realize.
So now it’s time to shift the subconscious thoughts about yourself by actively committing to new ways of thinking about yourself and your life.
Every night before you go to bed, write in a journal three things you loved about yourself from the day and three things you’re grateful for. They can be big things like achieving a goal or simple things like trying your best. It only matters that you choose a few things to be grateful for and to love about yourself every day.
This can have positive influences on the way you feel as you fall asleep and wake up the next day, and even compound over time — and that’s when some real magic can happen.
